Cold Club Sandwich (Triple-Decker, Deli-Style)
This is the classic cold club sandwich: three slices of bread, mayo, turkey, bacon, lettuce, and tomato stacked into a tall, slightly ridiculous tower. It’s pretty easy, takes about 10 minutes, and makes a lunch that feels like you tried (even if you didn’t).

Instructions
1) Toast (or don’t) and set up your board
Toast the bread in the toaster if you want that crunchy bite. Or skip it for a soft deli vibe — nobody’s grading you.
Lay the slices on a cutting board. Grab your knife. This is the part where people slice tomatoes in their hand and then act surprised when it goes wrong.
2) Mayo time (yes, on all three)
Spread mayonnaise on one side of each bread slice. Go edge-to-edge so every bite gets some love. Keep it even and not one giant blob in the middle (unless you’re into mayo geysers).
3) Build the first layer
On the first slice, pile on the turkey breast slices. Then add the lettuce. Finish with tomato slices.
Keep it flat and stackable. If your sandwich already looks like a Jenga tower, you’re doing the “future mess” version.
4) Add the middle bread + bacon layer
Set the second slice of bread on top, mayo-side down. Then stack the bacon (cooked and cooled). Add a little more lettuce if you want extra crunch and freshness.
Important: don’t put hot bacon in there unless you enjoy warm, wilted lettuce sadness. Learned that one for science.
5) Top it, press, and slice like a grown-up
Place the third slice on top, mayo-side down. Press gently with your palm to compact it a bit — not a full smash, just a hold-it-together move.
Now slice with a bread knife into quarters (classic club triangles) or halves if you’re feeling lazy. Use toothpicks if you have them… or just accept that your plate will look like a small sandwich accident.
Cut options:
- Quarters (classic, easier to eat)
- Halves (faster, messier, still good)
Serving
Serve it cold or room temp. If you’re packing lunch, wrap it tight so it stays neat-ish and doesn’t turn into a bread sponge.
lightbulb_2 Tips
Pro tip: If your tomato is super juicy, slice it and pat it dry with a paper towel. Otherwise your sandwich turns wet and sad by bite three.
Common mistake: Overstuffing. I get it — it’s a club sandwich, it’s supposed to be tall. But if you can’t bite it without dislocating your jaw, you built a sandwich sculpture, not lunch.
Pro tip: Toast just the middle slice of bread if you like soft outside bread but want a little structure inside. It’s the sandwich version of wearing a belt.
Funny warning: If you burn the bread, don’t try to “scrape it off.” That’s not cooking, that’s evidence cleanup. Just toast a new slice — future you will thank you.
Swap note: Out of mayonnaise? Greek yogurt works in a pinch and keeps it tangy and lighter. Just don’t pretend it’s the same thing. It’s not. It’s a different vibe.
